“Hey this doesn’t look too bad.”

“oh”

“oh god.”

“she’s like fucking long cat”

“thou misunderstands me, my lord”

Night Flight from Mary and the Witch’s Flower- May 2018

I’m so proud of this piece because I put it together by ear, and it’s a song I’m really excited about.–You don’t hear dulcimers featured that often in music! Also, enjoy a cameo from my cat, Izumiko, in the background.

This is the main reason for my general annoyance with lack of size regulation in the fashion industry…

men’s pants are labeled by waist and inseam measurement. women’s pants are labeled by voodoo. even though i do not buy women’s pants, i can recognize this as objectively dumb.

THE NOTES ON THIS

image

because i can’t stress this enough. this is why i don’t let the numbers get to me. as jumpingjacktrash so eloquently said “women’s pants are labeled by voodoo.”

BUT THISTHISTHISTHISTHIS

so when boys make fun of girls taking forever to shop and trying everything on

WE FUCKING HAVE TO OR NOTHING WILL FIT

Forever grateful for this post for removing the shame of going into a different store and finding that the pants do not fit me even though I am WEARING the “same size” pants right that moment.

This bears repeating: “women’s pants are labeled by voodoo.”

I mean we could probably say something less offensive than ‘women’s pants are labeled by [name of someone’s religion that we don’t understand]’

It sounds really silly if you say ‘women’s pants are labeled by Christianity’

How about ‘women’s pants are labeled in a directed effort to mess with women mentally’ which is true and also not offensive as fuck

ok cool thanks for coming to my TED talk

women’s pants are labeled by misogyny

That’s more like it! Women’s pants are labeled by misogyny. They serve to make women constantly feel bad about themselves, which is 100% beneficial to the fashion industry and industries related to it.

And it’s not just a problem of difference between brands. I tend to wear only one brand of jeans. In their shorts I take an 18. Their actual full-length jeans? I’m a size 22. And every fall when I go in to buy a new pair of jeans I always forget this, try on a size 18, and think so much less of myself because I don’t fit into the size I used to. Until I remember this shitty inconsistency.

It’s not just inconsistency between brands. There’s inconsistency even within brands. The number on women’s pants literally means nothing but the misogyny behind the labeling.

All women’s clothing is vanity sized, so don’t use the number on your jeans as a measure of your beauty or your worth.

Asking a 5 year old to forfeit their rights without a lawyer is insane. It’s inhuman. It is the worst possible scenario.

But for Republicans, it is their policy.

I’m just gonna point out this cannot and should not hold up in a court of law because 1. She doesn’t speak English and 2. She’s 5 years old she’s a minor with no ability to understand what she’s signing 3. she’s a minor and therefor needs a guardian to sign contracts with her she cannot do it on her own as a 5 year old.

how many English speaking 5 year olds could read that???

How many 5-year-olds of any linguistic capacity can hold out against a room full of adult strangers ordering them to put these specific marks on this sheet of paper? Especially if they’re, say, being threatened that they need to do so in order to see their parents again?

y’all realise low empathy and difficulty understanding complex social cues and norms aren’t excuses for being a horrible person right

like it’s possible to struggle to relate to other people and still treat them with kindness. y’all get that right.

not having empathy is alright, its a given trait. not having compassion? learn it or perish
