Not to be #thatperson but I feel like national news isn’t fully realizing how bad this is. Not to detract from the horror of Paradise and surrounding towns but this is really bad. And Sacramento is worse.
It is that bad, and you are not supposed to mind. You are supposed to accept the new normal. Sometimes American cities will be uninhabitable. Sometimes America will just burn. You will be encouraged to identify with this. It’ll probably be a whole thing, like how New Englanders take pride in driving in snowstorms.
The city of San Francisco currently has the worst air quality of anywhere in the world because of the wildfires. (This level of air quality, incidentally, is bad for people and kills them.) These once-in-a-lifetime wildfires will become more common in our lifetimes.
Gravity Falls, proof that you can have an emotional, heartbreaking, heartfelt, amazing story without killing any characters. Other shows/stories, take note. Killing isn’t always necessary, if you are only doing it to make someone cry or to make it more “real” or “edgy” you are doing it wrong.
You’ve forgotten, they did kill one character. A kind character, who heroically sacrificed himself for the sake of his community, and met a tragic, heartbreaking end.
apparently my boss who is a professor at my school doesn’t have a cell phone and his coworkers were upset by this so they bought him a childs toy phone and labeled it “David’s jitterbug” (for those of you that don’t know jitterbugs are phones made for old people that have like massive buttons and shit) so the other day I walked into his office to ask him a question and he pressed a button on it which made it start loudly playing the ABCs and he said “excuse me I have to take this” and then started singing along to the ABCs while shooing me out of his office
this is the phone. he apparently was in the middle of a meeting with the department the other day and got annoyed so he pressed a button, said “I have to take this” and left
I’m losing my shit at all the comments saying “it’s a remote not a cell phone” it’s actually not either it’s a childs toy and also a fucking joke akebwrnwkakbe it really doesn’t matter if its supposed to be a remote neither he nor I bought it it was bought by his coworkers to make fun of him for not owning a phone
standing up and blacking out for a few seconds is just transitioning from a cutscene to the actual gameplay
You motherfuckers need to eat salt is what that means
fun fact antidepressants can cause low sodium levels.
when i was on them, i didnt know this, and my parents hated that i craved salt because “salt is unhealthy”, so i didn’t get enough–and blacked out and got dizzy a LOT.
if ur on antidepressants make sure to get enough salt!! i know media says salt=bad but i promise your body needs it!!
Rallying across the street from the Long Island City site where Amazon’s new campus is set to rise, opponents called the plan – which will give Amazon nearly $3bn in tax breaks and subsidies from state and city – a ripoff to taxpayers that will stress the neighborhood’s infrastructure while doing little to help local residents.
Lawmakers will never get the chance to vote on the plan, since the state is routing it through an economic development agency controlled by the governor, avoiding city council approval on zoning changes that would normally be required.
On Wednesday, residents at the nearby Queensbridge Houses – the largest public housing project in the US – complained of heat outages, officials said.
“Today is a great day to be a real-estate broker in Long Island City,” said Jonathan Westin, head of New York Communities for Change. “Today is a horrible day to be a tenant struggling to make rent.”
