midoriya 2 weeks into getting OFA because he’s a dumbass 15 year old but now with the power of G-d and the brains of a teenage boy: then i hit the counter with my fist so hard it shattered. haha it was awesome
iida: that sounds very irresponsible! i am sure your mother does not appreciate you breaking her decor!
midoriya: oh no it’s okay, the counter is fine. i meant i shattered my fist. it was awesome. i mean, not awesome because we had to go to the er, but i got a sweet cast
iida, now realizing one of the peers in the classroom he’s chosen to be friends with has absolutely 0 sense of self preservation and enough Dumbass Energy to power an entire city:
todoroki, fellow dumbass 15 year old: i learned a new power move
iida: oh?
todoroki: yeah so if i raise my body temperature high enough i can melt everything around me, including cameras and metal structures however there is also a very high and exciting chance it will also kill me horribly
iida: well that is. hm.
midoriya: hey iida i heard you’ve been working on improving your speed! care to share with the class?
iida, having recently realized his own dumbass potential and hitting it with exponentially expanding speed: yes, actually! so i went out into the woods and tore off my old exhausts with a pair of pliers and now they will grow back stronger, larger, more powerful, and i will be much faster. nothing says improvement like physically removing a part of your own body for the sake of personal growth!
todoroki: that sounds…..bad. and very painful.
iida: oh, yes, it was excruciating!
midoriya: hey i just had a thought
iida: yes?
midoriya: maybe we should stop putting ourselves through intense physical trauma for the sake of a hero program that quite frankly kinda sucks and seems dependent on punishing us with dangerous and life threatening physical harm.
iida: well…that sounds…reasonable
midoriya: also aizawa wouldn’t let me keep this abandoned cat i found outside in my dorm room so i think we should form a student union and boycott
There were a few reasons I instated this policy. However, after talking to a lawyer, it seems like allowing certain things won’t really hurt Temmie or Fangamer (my friends). So things will become more lenient.
Now, I won’t stop individual fans from selling the following items at cons:
– Prints, charms, buttons, keychains, stickers, etc. – Most handmade items – Undertale zines/fanbooks/doujinshi
Regarding Music:
-You can sell your cover songs on iTunes and other stores but please license them. –
You can license UNDERTALE cover songs through Loudr, or distribute it
via companies that license it for you (like Soundrop, Distrokid, or CD
Baby) – Please don’t use any sound effects from the game or samples from the original songs. – You can make your own sheet music for free, or sell sheet music through SMP Press: https://smppress.sheetmusicplus.com/ – Yes, you can perform UNDERTALE music at conventions/at a concert/at your school. Please inform us if you’re an orchestra or something though.
– You cannot use the UNDERTALE logo or put the name UNDERTALE on it, as it is trademarked. (Weird, right!?) – No t-shirts, apparel/clothing,* or machine-made figures or machine-made plushes. – Do not sell merch via Redbubble, zazzle, or other large online store. – No, you still can’t do Kickstarters or crowdfunding campaigns for UT-related things. – If you’re a company (like Sharkrobot or Hot Topic or something) you cannot sell UNDERTALE merch of ANY kind. – Do not compete with official merch & acknowledge my copyright. If necessary, I can halt any unofficial item’s sale. (Really don’t want to ^^;;) – If this change turns out to be actually bad, I can reverse the decision. – If you sell, please have played the game.
* Exception: if someone hand-made a few scarves, hats, cosplay, or accessories, it’d probably be OK. But if mass-produced, it could become a problem.
When in doubt, if hand-made and few, it’s OK. If mass-produced and machine/factory made, it’s not OK.
PS – One-off art commissions of UT characters are still OK, online or offline.
PPS – If engaging in UNDERTALE activities at a con (selling, cosplaying, etc.), try to be respectful and give a good impression. Overall, UNDERTALE’s had a positive effect on people who have played it. It’d be nice if it could have a positive effect on the rest of the world, too.
cuz of DELTARUNE and everyone’s returned love and interest in UNDERTALE, fan-creators should look at this updated policy on what’s ok to sell! been seeing old info spreading.
You know that whole trope where like, the protagonists get teleported up into the aliens’ spaceship or base or whatever and the alien appears to them only it doesn’t appear as it really looks like but rather, since it doesn’t want to scare the protagonists, it takes the form of something we find familiar and pleasing and is like, “I look like your dad or whatever–is this form okay?” Like I think about that trope a lot and I think like, what if the alien couldn’t pick out a form via telepathy and only had earth media to try and decide what form would scare its human guests least and be accepted almost immediately and honestly the more I think about it the more options for what form that might be are just really fun to me.
“I have chosen the form of your earth playwright and composer Lin-Manuel Miranda–do not be afraid. I come in peace.”
“Greetings. I am Glofnorbo of the cloud you call the ‘Pegasus Nebula.’ I have scanned your earth media from afar and empirically decided that you would find the form of the one known as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson most pleasing. I have come to confer with your leaders.”
“Do not be panic. I come in peace. I have assumed the form of your insectoid demigoddess ‘Hatsune Miku’ so that we may communicate peacefully without my true form horrifying you.”
“It was decided that I would assume the form of your ‘Mister Rogers’ in order to best welcome your world to the galactic neighborhood without frightening your kind.”
“…So did your colleague take on the form of Jack Black for that reason too?”
“No, that is the actual Jack Black. We do not know how to make him leave.”
