for this painting i am using a photo reference, but i am only looking at it from my phone screen. i start with a gradient of the basic sky colors (picked by eye, not color picker)
rough in the composition of clouds and powerlines. i alter the scales of things from the photo to fit into my composition and look more pleasing

painting the clouds. not trying to match the reference perfectly, but instead capture the feeling and the large shapes
